It gets the exact name of an IP address (and vice versa) and lets you do Ping, traceroute, whois for an IP, etc.

NsLookup is an excellent tool which will help you check a lot of data via LANs and the Internet. It lets you get the exact name for an IP address, and of course lets you do the reverse operation: from a machine name get the IP (something very useful to, for example, configure the DSN for every PC on a network).

For each IP and machine you get all types of information referring to them, but it comes equipped with another series of utilities to work with the IP and check it is working, like allowing you to do PINGs (including a packet counter) for a specific IP.

It also lets you do another series of operations like traceroute, a whois for a specific IP (or URL) and even on a LAN get information for each local IP for each machine.
